partying like a southern belle...part 2

After Maryland, we headed down to Charleston, South Carolina for Jim’s wedding. Our first night in Charleston we went to this cute little restaurant and had one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. Excellent. John and I stuffed ourselves on fried green tomatoes and other awesome Southern food. The remainder of the night was spent at a low-key bar where we chatted with the bartender for an hour about South Carolina and it’s stupid liquor laws. Charleston was an absolutely beautiful city and perhaps my favorite city that I’ve ever visited. Jim and Sandra’s pre-wedding cookout was a completely unique event that totally gave me the Southern experience. It was at a beautiful Southern style house, complete with porches, and columns and a great backyard with gardens and torches. The barbeque was some of the tastiest food I’ve ever had, and the hosts were more than friendly. After carriage rides, shopping, and some sight-seeing, it was time for Jim’s wedding. The ten Californians were stared at a little, but we livened up the party with dancing and impromptu karaoke. See how great Californians can be? Even with the 90 degress and 100 percent humidity, we managed to dance the night away. Of course, everyone was dripping with sweat, so after the wedding we had to jump in the hotel pool. After a fiercely competitive treading water contest, the night was topped off with a Wendy’s frosty before it was time for bed. Now doesn’t that sound like a good time?
