bring on the cable
so i am currently obsessed with a couple of television shows. and guess what? none of them are on network tv. probably because most shows on network tv blow. of course there are exceptions. for instance, 'scrubs' is awesome. but here are some really great shows that you shouldn't be missing:
1. TRADING SPACES - i know what you're saying. it's a show about interior design! i know. and it's really popular right now and trendy and shit. but i've been watching this show for years. way before the personalities started appearing on 'the view'. unfortunately, that means that i've seen most of the episodes that they run every weekday. but still, it's captivating. did you know that you can make pillow covers out of old sweaters? or slipcover your ugly headboard? i know, it's amazing. and i gotta say, this show is not just for females. even john enjoys the show...probably for all of the carpentry, drilling, and manly stuff like that.
2. QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY - this show broke all of Bravo's records last week for the second week in a row. and for a reason. who doesn't want to watch caddy gay guys making fun of a straight guy's wardrobe? well, most men don't. and that's cool. but ladies, check it out. face it, gay men are funny.
3. PROJECT GREENLIGHT - it's pretty obvious why i (and every other los angeles resident) like this show. it's just a documentary about what we do for a living. it exposes the complete ridiculousness of the movie business and production. though i gotta say that they really hire some big *^-ups to make the show more exciting. and it works. from the pissy directors to the suffering writer to the funny actor shia, this show is entertaining every sunday. and get ready for next week when there's another cameo by j. lo. because she doesn't get enough media attention.
4. THE WIRE - i gotta say that it took me a long long time to get into this show. but i finally did (thanks to john's persistence) and now i'm hooked. it does have a lot of characters and many plot lines, but it's worth taking a look at. because what else do you have to do on sunday night? you're already at hbo for sex and the city and project greenlight.
