pork cracklings
Prague has been a blur of fantastic dinners and drinks. Because there are so so many tourists in this town, there are a plethora of really good restaurants. From Italian, to steak, to seafood, to international fine dining. I've had some amazing dinners. The one kind of restaurant that I do not frequent is Czech cuisine. There is just nothing good on the menu usually. Some of the goulash I've had is fine because it's basically a beef stew. But, other than that, everything just scares me. The few times I've gone late at night, the favorite dish of the locals is fried cheese. Basically mozzarella sticks but in "steak" form. But last night we hit a Czech pub and some of the boys got what the menu called "pork cracklings". See below...

Do you know what pork cracklings are? It's fat from pork that has been fried. Yes, it's just as it sounds. I did try one to be a good sport and do you know what it tasted like? Tasted like fried meat fat. Pretty much a waste of calories (and good health) as that is not tasty to me. But these guys thought it was the best thing ever. I did admire the price at only 4 dollars. It's the cheapest thing I've seen in Prague. But, then again, why should you charge a lot for deep frying pork scraps?
