horses and gary ross don't mix

so i saw seabiscuit. what a great story for a movie. it's got horses, it's got competition, it's got underdogs, it's got a big race scene. this movie should have been fantastic. excellent. wonderful. and it wasn't. i mean, it was okay. it had some good moments. but director/writer gary ross screwed it up. he kept cutting to black and white stills to drive home the parallel story of america in the depression. he didn't edit enough. he used too much slow motion. the music was lame. the casting was horrendous. the good things? jeff bridges (as usual) and chris cooper (as usual). these two actors rule. but unfortunately, that's about all i can say about the movie. luckily it was only a matinee.
