14 year old trapped in a 24 year old's body
have i mentioned that i love kids movies? or what i like to call "family films"? if you haven't seen very many movies this summer, listen to what i have to say...DO NOT bother seeing any so-called "adult" films released this summer. (ohmygosh, that makes it sounds like porno). but seriously, everything released this summer has been either crap or extremely disappointing. terminator 3? lame. the hulk? dogshit. charlie's angels 2? incomprehendible. matrix 2? disappointing. and those are the ones i bothered to see. i can't even imagine how atrocious bad boys 2, bruce almighty, hollywood homicide, or 2 fast 2 furious are. the one slight exception might be pirates of the caribbean. though i gotta say that i think that counts as a family film. so i'm still right. here are the awesome kids movies that you should check out. and yes, you can make fun of me. i won't give a damn because i'm right.
1. FREAKY FRIDAY - this was a great movie. a truly entertaining, enjoyable movie that really exemplifies the term "fun for the whole family". well, at least fun for me and my little sister. jamie lee curtis was genuinely funny and lindsay lohan was great. though i've liked her since another great kid's movie, parent trap. aside from the humor in this movie, the characters are very real and are able to mix in even a little bit of touching drama. i gotta say, i dug it. a lot.
2. WHAT A GIRL WANTS - okay, you probably don't remember this one. i'll refresh your memory. amanda bynes and colin firth star in this sweet-ass movie about a girl who goes to england to find her real dad. totally predictable but very fun to watch. i'll admit that i'm a sucker for colin firth and will watch anything he's in, but this was a really cute movie.
3. FINDING NEMO - i probably don't have to suggest this one because clearly millions of people have fallen in love with it already. but in a summer of crap movies, this film has better writing than almost all of them. the computer animation is gorgeous and each character is funny and quirky in their own way. can i even admit that i thought ellen degeneres was funny? ugh.
and finally...
4. HOLES - this movie was great. a really solid, excellent movie. some of the other films are definitely for girls but both males and females can enjoy this awesome adventure film. the real draw for the movie? a young man named shia lebeouf who, if you've been watching project greenlight, you know is hysterical. i think he even used to do standup when he was younger. anyways, he's great. sigourney weaver is great. and even jon voight is great. go figure. so check it out because it rules the house!! and then you can be as cool as me. and my 14 year old sister.
