in linguistics i learned that only southern californians put a "the" in front of their highways. other places in the country either call it 101 or Highway 101. ahh, but not southern california. everything here is VERY important so we say THE 101. i think this is probably not necessary but if there was ever a highway that merited a "The" with a capital T, it's the 1. the pacific coast highway. the prettiest damn drive i've ever experienced. the portion from cambria to monterey is the best of the best and i recommend it to everyone.
