emmy nomination highlights (or lowlights as it were)
really? these are the nominations? i was actually looking forward to the emmy's because i think that television currently has more quality programming than films by a mile. there are such great things on tv now! so imagine my disappointment when i saw the terrible nominations this morning. just so you know, the nominees were chosen differently this year. the members got to send in ballots and then a "blue-ribbon panel of selected television individuals" chose the nominees from among the top 15 vote getters. yeah. so some jackass panel chose the nominees.
the few highlights
denis leary got nominated for 'rescue me' which is really one of the best shows on television. amazing. 'bleak house', the miniseries, got a lot of nominations which i was happy about because i enjoyed it. jaime pressley was nominated for 'my name is earl' which is good because she's the best part of that show by far. chandra wilson (sassy dr. bailey) on 'grey's anatomy' was nominated and that RULES. for some reason i'm really happy for craig ferguson and i am thrilled that kathy griffin's reality show got nominated because i think it's pretty damn funny.
and the many lowlights....
the rest of the nominations were just terrible. 'will and grace' is so so bad and yet it keeps getting nominated. and i know 'the west wing' is ending but is that really a reason to nominate everyone? the fact that 'rescue me', 'the shield', 'deadwood', or even 'lost' didn't get a best drama nod is pathetic and sad. i don't adore 'big love' but every one of those actresses deserved a nomination and all of them were shut out. alfre woodard on 'desperate housewives'? what a joke!!! i continue to be amazed by all of the '24' adoration when it's basically the same ol' recycled plot lines and kiefer sutherland yelling. is that a good show? it's just plain ridiculous that james gandolfini and edie falco are ignored while the depressing boring 'six feet under' actors are nominated. come on! william shatner!! sean hayes! megan mullaly! what is this!? 2001? my god.
