BSG

Well, I have to admit it. For...well, years, I've heard people say how awesome the tv show Battlestar Galactica is. And for years I've dismissed it, assuming these were the same people who loved "Star Trek" and other dorky sci-fi things. But as the husband and I sat around the house for the past week, unemployed, not wanting to spend money, with no new television episodes airing, we became bored. So bored that we signed up for a free trial of netflix and decided to try out this so-called "Best Show You're Not Watching". And guess what? I am obsessed.

Not a little obsessed, but a lot obsessed. In the past week we've watched 25 episodes. Netflix couldn't even keep up with us so we had to download some episodes from itunes because we couldn't wait to see what happened. I have to admit, the first episode was a little jarring because, compared to some shows like "The Wire" and "Lost", it looks like it cost about 10% of what those shows cost. And the acting can be, at times, a bit like watching an amateur theater production. But as I've progressed, those moments are now fewer and farther between. Mary McDonnell is fantastic and British actor James Callis who I recognized from "Bridget Jones" is hysterical. If you've been afraid to watch this show, don't be. It's really engaging and the plotlines and characters are great. In short, this show frakking rocks. Yes, I am officially a dork.
